Presiding Bishop's Thanksgiving Message

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Blessings to you all ...

Almighty and gracious Father, we give you thanks for the fruits of the earth in their season and for the labors of those who harvest them. Make us, we pray, faithful stewards of your great bounty, for the provision of our necessities and the relief of all who are in need, to the glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

As we celebrate our national holiday, we give thanks for all that God, in His infinite mercy and goodness, has given to us. We give thanks for the food we receive at His hands, the blessing of family and friends, the gift of His holy church. We pray that He will continue to bless our land and assist all who are in authority to serve its people with gracious good judgment. We pray that His church will continue to serve as a blessing to all who find spiritual shelter within its welcoming family.

I bid you all safety in your travels, blessings in your celebrations and prayers for the fullness of your lives in Christ's holy church.

When we seek to count our blessings on this Thanksgiving, we understand almost immediately the impossibility of this task. Just as our blessings are beyond any ability to count, so too is the infinite love of God for us. As we bow our heads on this Thanksgiving Day, may God receive the prayers of a grateful people, people who are filled with the humility born of an understanding of all we have been given.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Your Brother in Christ,
