BISHOP'S MONTHLY NEWSLETTER for February 2013

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Please know of my prayers for you all as we approach our Lenten season.

CLERGY

As you know, the Requiem Mass for Fr. James Herbert Davis was held at Trinity Pro Cathedral in Rochester, New Hampshire on Saturday, February 2. The Mass was well attended by family, clergy and parishioners. A reception hosted by the women of Trinity Cathedral followed the Mass.

Fr. Davis had served his diocese very well over the past two decades. He will be missed by all who knew and worked with him.

Fr. Davis' obituary appears on the diocesan website. Contribution in Fr. Davis' memory may be made to Trinity Pro Cathedral.

"Rest eternal, grant him, O Lord, and light perpetual shine upon him."

DEANERY APPOINTMENTS

The rural deaneries have been redesigned and new appointments have been made. Theses are as follows:

Deanery of Maine, the Very Rev. Samuel M. Logan, Dean
The Deanery of Maine comprises the seven parishes and missions within the State of Maine.

Deanery of Vermont and New Hampshire, The Very Rev. Alexander H. "Hendy" Webb, Dean
The Deanery of Vermont and New Hampshire comprises the eight parishes and missions in Vermont and New Hampshire, along with the parishes of Brockton, Massachusetts and Mystic, Connecticut.

Deanery of Western New York, The Very Rev. Richard Dibble, Dean
The Deanery of Western New York comprises the five parishes and missions from Albany to the Pennsylvania border. The New York area has been divided into two deaneries, given the size of the state. Included in this total is the parish of St. Thomas of Canterbury, which will be included as an associated parish.

Deanery of Southern New York, The Very Rev. Robert Ley, Interim Dean
The Deanery of Southern New York comprises the four parishes and missions in the New York City area, including the parish of St. Augustine in Elizabeth, New Jersey. I have asked Fr. Bob Ley to serve as dean in a temporary capacity.

Thanks to Fathers Williams and Tutor, who served as deans for the past several years.

We pray that the new deans may serve their diocese to the glory of God and the increase of the church.

CLERICUS

The March clericus will meet at Graymoor in Garrison, New York on February 28-March 1. As with all our March clericus gatherings, it is open to lay members of our diocese. Please contact Father David Moody for more information. He may be reached by email at: dwmoody@beaverwood.com.

BOARD OF EXAMINING CHAPLAINS

The rescheduled Standing Committee meeting will convene in the diocesan offices in Belchertown, Massachusetts at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 9. Please keep the members of the Standing Committee in your prayers as they conduct the temporal business of the diocese.

ST. LUKE'S SUMMER CAMP

It is not too early to set your schedule for Summer Camp. St. Luke's Camp has been set for August 4 - 10. This is an excellent week of camping in a Christian setting.
