BISHOP'S MONTHLY NEWSLETTER
April 2011

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

This is the holiest time of our church year. Please know of my prayers for you all as we approach Holy Week and Easter.

CLERGY NEWS

The Rev. Mr. Richard Dibble will, by the Grace of God, be ordained to the Sacred Priesthood, on May 7 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Anglican Church in Half Moon, New York (Albany area). The service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Clergy: red stoles. Formal invitations will be forthcoming.

The Rev. Mr. Arthur Bennett will, by the Grace of God, be ordained to the Sacred Priesthood ("Canon 9" provision) on August 14 at Christ Church mission in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. Final details will be worked out at a later date.

The Rev. Joseph Bizimana Desire has been received from the Charismatic Episcopal Church. His bishop has transferred him formally and he has been incardinated into the Anglican Church in America and the Diocese of the Northeast. Those who attended our recent clericus in Graymoor, New York will remember the powerful sermon Father Bizimana delivered at Evening Prayer. At present, Father will assist St. Paul's Church in Portland, Maine.

POSTULANTS AND CANDIDATES

Mr. Mark Black was accepted as a postulant for holy orders. Mark is a parishioner at St. Joseph's Anglican Church in Brooklyn, New York. He has been serving as a subdeacon. Please keep Mark in your prayers as he discerns his call to holy orders.

Mr. Patrick DesRosiers was also accepted as a postulant for holy orders. Patrick is a parishioner of St. Augustine of Canterbury Church in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Please keep Patrick in your prayers as he discerns his call to holy orders.

Mr. Stephen Rugg, as many of you know, will attend Gordon-Conwell seminary in the Fall. Steve was featured in the recent edition of the Northeast Anglican.

PARISH VISITS

I plan to visit Holy Redeemer in Canandaigua, New York on May 14. The following day, Sunday, May 15, I will pay an episcopal visit to Holy Cross in Webster, New York.

During the week of May 23, I will visit the parish of All Saints in Palatka, Florida.

The Rev. Mr. Michael Cupoli will complete his second year of seminary training at The Reformed Episcopal Seminary in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.

SUMMER CLERGY TRAINING PROGRAM

The third annual Summer Clergy Training Program will be held in Alfred, Maine on June 12. This program enhances the academic program that Logos House provides so well. The rhythm of chapel worship, combined with lectures and a strong collegial atmosphere makes it an ideal atmosphere in which to study for orders. Indeed, the path to ordination is one of "formation," a process that should encompass academics, prayer, worship and parochial work. Please contact Archdeacon Koller for registration material. NOTE: this program is also open to lay people.

ST. LUKE'S SUMMER CAMP

St. Luke's Summer Camp will again be offered at New England Keswick in Monterey, Massachusetts. This program is an outstanding example of Christian camping and should be a must for all campers. This year, the camp is being made available to children from the Diocese of the Eastern United States. The DEUS camping program is currently on hold, so children from that diocese have been welcomed to attend our camping program. Information and registration materials may be obtained from Deacon (soon to be Father) Richard Dibble.

PAROCHIAL REPORTS

Please get your parochial report to Linnea Shaver. Several parishes and missions still need to submit reports. These reports are necessary for us to determine budgets and programs. The report was simplified this year, so should take only a few minutes to complete. Should you need assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

LOGOS HOUSE

Logos House of Studies is about to go national - officially. When the House of Bishops meets at the end of April, it is expected that Logos House will be recognized as our national seminary. It is anticipated that regional centers will be established to provide mentoring and academic support for students and candidates for holy orders.
